नागपूर: शहरात रस्ते अपघातांच्या संख्येत लक्षणीय वाढ होत चालली आहे. नुकतेच रामझुला ओहरब्रिजवर मर्सडिजने चिरडल्याने दोन तरुणांचा मृत्यू झाला. मर्सडिज चालक महिलेच्या बेजबाबदारपणामुळे दोन निष्पापांचा जीव गेल्याने नागपूरकरांमध्ये संतापाची लाट उसळली आहे. नागपुरात गेल्या पाच वर्षांत रस्ते अपघातात एकूण 1271 जणांचा बळी गेल्याची चिंताजनक आकडेवारी समोर आली आहे.

अपघातातील मृतकांची आकडेवारी –
नागपूर पोलिसांनी जारी केलेल्या आकडेवारीनुसार, 2019 मध्ये एकूण 233 लोकांचा रस्ते अपघातात मृत्यू झाला. तर 2020 मध्ये नोवेल कोरोनाव्हायरसच्या उद्रेकामुळे ही संख्या 195 पर्यंत घसरली आहे. तसेच 2021 मध्ये कोविड-19 निर्बंध शिथिल झाल्यानंतर अपघातात मृत्युमुखी पडलेल्यांची संख्या वाढली. परिणामी विविध अपघातांमध्ये 255 लोकांना आपला जीव गमवावा लागला.2022 आणि 2023 या वर्षांमध्ये मृतांच्या संख्येत लक्षणीय वाढ झाली. या दोन वर्षांमध्ये 294 लोकांनी आपला जीव गमावला.ही आकडेवारी पाहता राज्याच्या दुसऱ्या राजधानीत गेल्या पाच वर्षांत एकूण 1,271 रस्ते अपघातात जीव गमवावा लागला आहे.

‘हे’ आहेत अपघाताचे मुख्य कारण –
पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, सर्वाधिक रस्ते अपघात मानवी चुकांमुळे होतात. मात्र सातत्याने पोलिसांच्या दंडात्मक कारवाई ते मुखातात. याच कारणांमुळे वाहनचालकांचे धाडस वाढते आणि सर्रास वाहतुकीचे नियम तोडले जातात.यात फूटपाथऐवजी रस्त्यावरून चालणारे पादचारी,ओव्हरस्पीड, वाहनचालकाचे लक्ष विचलित करणे, सिग्नल तोडणे सीट बेल्ट आणि हेल्मेट यांसारखे सुरक्षा उपकरण टाळणे,चुकीच्या बाजूने वाहन चालवणे,बेजबाबदारपणे वाहन चालवणे, मद्यधुंद अवस्थेत वाहन चालवणे, वाहतुकीदरम्यान मोबाईल फोन वापरणे, चुकीच्या पद्धतीने ओव्हरटेक करणे, रस्त्यावरील खड्डे आणि ऑटोरिक्षा व इतर सार्वजनिक वाहतूक वाहनांमध्ये क्षमतेपेक्षा जास्त प्रवासी नेणे हे अपघात होण्यामागचे प्रमुख करणे आहेत.

नागपूर शहरातील वाढत्या रस्ते अपघाताचे प्रमाण पाहता पोलीस आयुक्त डॉ. रविंदर सिंगल यांनी वाहतूक नियमांचे उल्लंघन करणाऱ्यांवर कठोर कारवाई करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे. नागपुरात वाहतूक नियमांचे उल्लंघन होत असल्यास नागरिकांनी त्यांच्या 7385982212 या सेल क्रमांकावर माहिती द्यावी, असे आवाहन त्यांनी नागरिकांना केले आहे.

नागपुर पोलिसांचा वाहतूक विभाग सार्वजनिक बांधकाम विभाग, भारतीय राष्ट्रीय महामार्ग प्राधिकरण आणि इतर संबंधित प्राधिकरणांशी सूचनाफलक लावणे, झेब्रा क्रॉसिंग रंगविणे आणि सर्व चौकांवर स्टॉप लाईन लावणे यासाठी प्रयत्न करीत आहेत. शहराची विकासकामे लांबणीवर पडत असतानाच आता पोलीस आयुक्तांनी वाहतूक सुरळीत करण्यासाठी सर्व बाबी स्वत:च्या हातात घेण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे.

Nagpur: A recklessly driven truck crushed a morning walker to death in Imambada area in the early hours of Tuesday. The trucker, who sped away after the ghastly mishap, was later arrested by Imambada Police.

The deceased, Arvind Baburao Pantawane (66) was a resident of House No 377, Siraspeth, near Anand Boudh Vihar. Around 4.40 am, Pantawane was on a morning walk on Reshimbag Road. Near Anand Boudh Vihar, an Ashok Layland truck (MH-49/BZ-1078) hit him from behind. Pantawane came under its wheel and was crushed to death. The trucker fled the spot. Some passers-by took Pantawane to Government Medical College & Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’ on admission.

Later, police nabbed the truck driver, Shaikh Sadiq Mujib Shaikh (19), a resident of Plot No 163, Sharda Layout, Kharbi Road, and registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 184, 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, against him. NAGPUR : 25th February is celebrated as NATIONAL ORAL PATHOLOGISTS DAY. This year,DEPARTMENT OF ORAL PATHOLOGY & MICROBIOLOGY, GDC&H Nagpur, Dr.Amit Parate Head Of Department of oral pathology & microbiology along with Dr.Akshay Dhobley, Dr.Devendra Palve , Dr.Dipak Ghatage &Dr. Mansi Wadekar.

The program was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Dean GDCH Dr.Abhay Dattarkar.

1.Oral cancer & precancer screening program for under privilege people of society at Rajabaksha temple premises. In this event around 200 patient were screened out of which 23 were diagnosed as precancer & referred to GDC&H for further management. Post graduate students screened the patients under supervision of staff.

2.Patient awareness program regarding oral precancer & cancer for general public in GDC premises was conducted in which Dr.Akshay Dhobley elaborated on various aspects of prevention of oral precancer- cancer & applead that patient should stay away from bad habits.

3.Patient Felicitation Shri Narayan Das Tharwani ,A patient who has been regularly visiting Dept. of Oral Pathology ,who was felicitated by the Dean Sir for & he was projected as an example for others to follow

He had oral precancer and due to counseling & treatment from department staff he is free from disease now.

4. Sensitization of Nursing college students to tobacco related diseases was conducted. The second semester nursing students were trained in examining the oral cavity & its various parts. Dr.Devendra Palve , Dr.Dipak Ghatage gave demonstrations in identifying pathologies in oral cavity. Dr.Mansi Wadekar explained about the specialized counseling techniques to stop bad habits.
Post graduate students Dr.Akhil, Dr.Ashwini , Dr.Divya explained the various common oral habits which the patient might suffer . Along with Dr.Phalguni, Dr.Pradhnya & Dr.Sunil who motivated the students to religiously practice good oral hygiene.

The principal Nursing college Dr.Jyoti Ghaywat, vice principal Varsha Shrikhande & student incharge Vijay Rokde were significantly present during the day long activity.

Innovative Activities for students were planned in which vice Dean Dr.Manjusha Warhadpande introduced the theme of “ORAL HEALTH OVERALL HEALTH” for rangoli contest, in which large number of students participated to convey the message to the society. Photography contest was held for students, interns, post graduate students and staff in which theme was “Tobacco & Oral Health”.

Nagpur: Tehsil Police nabbed a goon and seized a pistol and two live cartridges from his possession in the small hours of Tuesday.

Identified as Ganesh Vishwanath Talware (30), the accused is a resident of Chand Mohalla, behind Nagpur Memon Jamat Hall, Bangali Panja, Maskasath. During patrolling, a police team got information that two armed goons were sitting near Nagpur Memon Jamat Hall and planning to commit some serious crime. Around 1.30 am, the team raided the locality and nabbed Talware. Another accused Fahim alias Guddu Shaikh, a resident of Bengali Panja, escaped under the cover of darkness.

During Talware’s physical search, cops found a pistol, two live cartridges and a cell phone collectively worth Rs 1.30 lakh which they immediately seized from him.

Following a complaint lodged by ASI Anil Thakur, police registered a case under Sections 3+24 of the Indian Arms Act, read with Sections 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, against Talware and launched a search for accused Fahim Shaikh.

Three arrested, ganja worth Rs 71,200 seized

Yashodhara Nagar Police arrested three drug peddlers and seized marijuana valued at Rs 71,200, two cell phones and a motorcycle from them. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Afroz Ansari Mohammad Sagir Ansari (21), Ifteqar Ahmed Ansari Mohammad Shakeel Ansari (22), both residents of Teka and Altaf Ahmed (19), a resident of Wanjra Layout.

A case under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(b), 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against them.

नागपूर : शहरात गुन्हेगारांच्या प्रमाणात दिवसेंदिवस वाढ होत चालली आहे. यातही नागपुरात पिस्तुलांचा सर्रास वापर होत असल्याच्या घटनाही उघडकीस येत आहे. संशयावरून पकडलेल्या एका आरोपीच्या खिशातूनच चक्क पिस्तूल निघाल्याची धक्कादायक माहिती समोर आली आहे. दर आठवड्यात आरोपींकडे पिस्तूल सापडल्याचे गुन्हे दाखल होत असून पोलीस प्रशासनाची झोप उडाली आहे.

माहितीनुसार, सोमवारी मध्यरात्रीनंतर पोलिसांचे पथक गस्त घालत असताना मस्कासाथ मार्गावरील बंगालीपंजा येथील मेमन जमात हॉलच्या गल्लीत दोन व्यक्ती संशयास्पदरीत्या बसलेले दिसले. पोलीस तेथे पोहोचले असता एक आरोपी पळून गेला तर दुसऱ्या आरोपीला पडकण्यात पोलिसांना यश आले. तपासात पोलिसांना पिस्तूल, दोन जिवंत काडतूस आढळली. गणेश विश्वनाथ तलवारे (३०, चांद मोहल्ला, बंगालीपंजा) असे आरोपीचे नाव आहे. पोलिसांनी त्याच्याकडून एकूण १.२९ लाखांचा मुद्देमाल जप्त केला. त्याचा सहकारी फहीम उर्फ गुड्डू शेख (बंगालीपंजा) हा फरार असून पोलिसांनी त्याचा शोध घेण्यास सुरुवात केली.

Nagpur : The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects related to rail, road and irrigation worth more than Rs 4900 crores at Yavatmal in Maharashtra today. He also released benefits under PM KISAN and other schemes during the program. The Prime Minister also initiated the distribution of 1 crore Ayushman cards across Maharashtra and launched the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana for OBC category beneficiaries. He also flagged off two train services. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay in Yavatmal city. Farmers connected with the event from all over the country in large numbers.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister bowed before the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji and also paid tributes to the son of the soil Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The Prime Minister remembered the people’s blessings when he came for ‘Chai par Charcha’ in 2014 and also in 2019. He asked for people’s blessings once again. He expressed gratitude for the blessings of the mothers and sisters.

Noting the completion of 350 years of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s rule, The Prime Minister recalled his coronation and said that he gave paramount importance to national consciousness and strength and worked for it till his last breath. Lamenting the leakage in the financial assistance to farmers, tribals and the needy during the previous governments, the Prime Minister highlighted the contrast during today’s occasion of disbursal of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi worth Rs 21,000 crores with the push of a button and deemed the gesture as Modi ki Guarantee. “The poor are getting their deserved share today”, PM Modi said.

Underlining the double guarantee of the double engine government in Maharashtra, the Prime Minister said that farmers in Maharashtra separately received Rs 3800 crores benefiting about 88 lakh beneficiary farmers across Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister stated that 11 crore farmers of the country have received Rs 3 lakh crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Out of which farmers of Maharashtra have received Rs 30,000 crore and Yavatmal farmers got Rs 900 crore in their accounts. The Prime Minister also informed about the increase in FRP of sugarcane to Rs 340 per quintal. He also mentioned the world’s biggest scheme for constructing food storage, which was launched recently at the Bharat Mandapam.

“Strengthening of the rural economy is imperative to the creation of Viksit Bharat”, the Prime Minister said, highlighting the government’s impetus to tackle all the issues faced by the families dwelling in villages by providing them with financial support. Be it water for drinking or irrigation, the Prime Minister recalled the drought-like conditions in villages during the previous governments and informed that merely 15 out of 100 families had access to tapped water supply before 2104. “Most of the neglected families belonged to the poor, dalits and tribal communities”, he added. He also recalled the tough conditions that women had to face due to water scarcity and reminded them of Modi’s guarantee of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ which led to 75 out of 100 families getting access to tap water within 4-5 years. He also mentioned Maharashtra’s statistics increasing from less than 50 lakhs to 1.25 crore tap water connections. “Modi’s guarantee means the guarantee of fulfilment of guarantee”, he added.

Referring to the long pending 100 irrigation projects from the earlier era, the Prime Minister told the farmers that 60 of them have been completed in the last 10 years. 26 such pending irrigation projects were from Maharashtra. “Farmers of Vidarbha deserve to know who was behind the miseries of their families”, the Prime Minister said and informed that 12 out of these 26 projects have been completed by the government and work is going on other projects too. PM gave the example of Nilwande Dam Pariyojana which was completed after 50 years, Krishna Koyna and Tembhu projects and the GosiKhurd project also saw the light of the day after a delay of decades by the current government. Today also 51 projects were dedicated to Vidarbha and Marathwada under PM Krishi Sinchai and Baliraja Sanjivini Scheme.

Referring to Modi’s guarantee of creating Lakhpati Didis from villages, the Prime Minister informed that the target of 1 crore women has already been achieved and this year’s Budget has plans to grow the number of Lakhpati Didis to 3 crores. He also mentioned more than 10 crore women associating with self-help groups that are provided with Rs 8 lakh crores from the bank and a special fund worth Rs 40,000 crores by the central government, benefitting lakhs of women from Maharashtra. In Yavatmal district, the Prime Minister informed, women were also handed out many e-rickshaws. The Prime Minister congratulated the Maharashtra government for this work. He also mentioned the NaMo Drone Didi scheme where women are being trained as drone pilots by the government and drones will also be provided for agricultural uses.

The Prime Minister dedicated the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya today. Taking inspiration from the Antyodaya philosophy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya the Prime Minister gave details of projects dedicated to the poor during the last 10 years such as guarantee of free ration and free medical treatment. Today a campaign to give Ayushman Cards to 1 crore families of Maharashtra was launched. Referring to the pucca houses for the poor, the Prime Minister mentioned a scheme for houses for OBC families under which 10 thousand OBC families will get pucca houses that was launched today.

“Modi has not only cared for those who were never cared for but also worshipped them”, the Prime Minister remarked, mentioning the Vishwakarma Yojna for artisans and handicrafts men worth Rs 13,000 crores and PM Janman Yojna for tribals worth Rs 23,000 crores. He said that PM Janman Yojna will make life easier for many tribal communities from Maharashtra including Katkari, Kolam and Madiya. Concluding the address, the Prime Minister said that this campaign to empower the poor, farmers, youth and Nari Shakti is going to intensify further and the next 5 years will witness more rapid growth creating a better life for every family in Vidarbha.

Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Shri Ajit Pawar were present on the occasion among other Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council and Government of Maharashtra. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Arjun Munda made his presence virtually.

Background

In a step that will showcase yet another example of the Prime Minister’s commitment towards the welfare of farmers, the 16th instalment amount of more than Rs 21,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) was released at the public program in Yavatmal through direct benefits transfer to beneficiaries. With this release, an amount of more than 3 lakh crore, has been transferred to more than 11 crore farmers’ families.

The Prime Minister also disbursed the 2nd and 3rd instalments of ‘Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi’ worth about Rs 3800 crores, benefiting about 88 lakh beneficiary farmers across Maharashtra. The scheme provides an additional amount of Rs 6000 per year to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister disbursed Rs 825 crore of Revolving Fund to 5.5 lakh women Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Maharashtra. This amount is additional to the Revolving fund provided by the Government of India under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Revolving Fund (RF) is given to SHGs to promote the lending of money within SHGs on a rotational basis and increase the annual income of poor households by promoting women-led micro-enterprises at the village level.

The Prime Minister initiated the distribution of one crore Ayushman cards across Maharashtra in yet another step to reach out to beneficiaries of welfare schemes to realize his vision of 100 percent saturation of all government schemes.

The Prime Minister launched the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana for OBC category beneficiaries in Maharashtra. The scheme envisages the construction of 10 lakh houses from FY 2023-24 to FY 2025-26. The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation multiple irrigation projects benefiting the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra. These projects are developed at a cumulative cost of more than Rs 2750 crore under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) and Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana (BJSY).

The Prime Minister also inaugurated multiple rail projects worth more than Rs. 1300 crore in Maharashtra. The projects include the Wardha-Kalamb broad gauge line (part of the Wardha-Yavatmal-Nanded new broad gauge line project) and the New Ashti – Amalner broad gauge line (part of the Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli new broad gauge line project). The new broad gauge lines will improve connectivity of the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions and boost socio-economic development. The Prime Minister also virtually flagged off two train services during the program. This includes train services connecting Kalamb and Wardha, and train service connecting Amalner and New Ashti. This new train service will help improve rail connectivity and benefit students, traders and daily commuters of the region.

Sheikh, accused of alleged sexual atrocities on women and land grabbing in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, was arrested on Thursday morning, police said.

He was arrested from a house at Minakhah in North 24 Parganas district where he was hiding, they said.

“Due to a legal tangle, he couldn’t be arrested initially. However, after the court clarified that there was no stay on his arrest, the West Bengal Police did its job. The opposition had earlier exploited the embargo on his arrest,” TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh told PTI.

The Calcutta high court on Wednesday directed that Sheikh can be arrested by the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or the West Bengal Police.

On Monday, the high court had directed police to arrest Sheikh, following which the state’s ruling party asserted that it does not shield culprits and he would be arrested within seven days.

“We had said he would be arrested in seven days as we were confident of the ability of the state police,” he said.

The opposition BJP, which had claimed that Sheikh was in “safe custody” of state police since Tuesday night, dubbed the arrest as scripted.

“It was TMC and the state police which were shielding the culprits. He has been arrested now as a part of a well-scripted story,” BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said.

The riverine Sandeshkhali area — situated on the borders of the Sundarbans, about 100 kilometres from Kolkata — has been on the boil for more than a month with protests over allegations of sexual abuse and land grab against local TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh, who is absconding, and his supporters.

The unrest in the area stems from accusations against Sheikh and his supporters of land grabbing and sexual assault with the local TMC strongman evading authorities since a mob attack on Enforcement Directorate officials on January 5.

Fourteen people were killed and 20 others injured when a pick-up vehicle overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district in the wee hours of Thursday, a police official said.

The accident took place near Badjhar Ghat at around 1.30 am when the vehicle’s driver lost control over the wheels.
As a result, the vehicle overturned, killing 14 people and injuring 20 others, the official said.

The victims had gone to Amhai Devri village to take part in a programme in the district’s Shahpura block and were returning when the accident took place.

Soon after getting information about the incident, Dindori collector and superintendent of police rushed to help the victims.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and announced an assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

कभी सोचा है कि हर चार साल बाद फरवरी में 29 तारीख क्यों आती है? क्या ये एक गलती है या फिर इसके पीछे वाकई कुछ विज्ञान है? दरअसल, दुनिया में जो कुछ भी होता है, उसके पीछे विज्ञान जरूर होता है. हर 4 साल बाद फरवरी में 29 की तारीख इसलिए आती है, ताकि हमारा कैलेंडर ईयर सोलर ईयर से मेल खा सके. हमारे सौरमंडल में ‘गड़बड़ी’ के कारण हर चार साल में लीप ईयर जरूरी है. वो गड़बड़ी ये है कि आमतौर पर माना जाता है कि पृथ्वी को सूर्य का एक चक्कर पूरा करने में 365 दिन का समय लगता है. लेकिन ये सही नहीं है. और इसी को ठीक करने के लिए फरवरी महीने में 29 की तारीख जोड़ी गई.

इस बारे में आगे बढ़े, उससे पहले ये भी जान लेते हैं कि सदियों पहले फरवरी 28 या 29 की नहीं हुआ करती थी. तब फरवरी भी 30 दिन का महीना हुआ करता था. लेकिन रोमन सम्राट सीजर ऑगस्टस के घमंड के कारण ये 28 दिन की हो गई.

फरवरी ऐसे बना सबसे छोटा महीना
इसके लिए इतिहास में जाना होगा. ईसा के जन्म से 46 साल पहले रोमन सम्राट जूलियस सीजर ने नई गणनाओं के आधार पर नया कैलेंडर तैयार किया. इस कैलेंडर में 12 महीने थे.

44 ईसा पूर्व में जूलियस सीजर की हत्या हो गई. उनके सम्मान में कैलेंडर के सातवें महीने का नाम जुलाई रखा गया. जुलाई में 31 दिन हुआ करते थे. जूलियस सीजर के बाद सीजर ऑगस्टस सम्राट बने. उनके नाम पर आठवें महीने का नाम अगस्त पड़ा. अब ऑगस्टस को इस बात से चिढ़ थी कि जूलियस सीजर के नाम पर रखे गए जुलाई महीने में 31 दिन थे, लेकिन उनके नाम पर रखे गए अगस्त महीने में 29 ही दिन हुआ करते थे. ऑगस्टस ने अगस्त को भी जुलाई के बराबर बनाने की ठान ली. और कैलेंडर में बदलाव कर दिया. इस तरह अगस्त महीने में 31 दिन हो गए. और फरवरी में 28 दिन हो गए.

इसलिए बढ़ा हर 4 साल में 1 दिन
रोमन साम्राज्य में कैलेंडर का चलन था. जूलियस सीजर के सम्राट बनने से पहले तक जो कैलेंडर था, उसमें 355 दिन हुआ करते थे. तब सोलर ईयर से कैलेंडर ईयर को मेल करने के लिए हर दो साल में 22 दिन जोड़े जाते थे. लेकिन इससे कई सारी समस्याएं होने लगीं. फिर जूलियस सीजर ने नए सिरे से गणनाएं करवाईं. इसमें सामने आया कि पृथ्वी को सूर्य का एक चक्कर लगाने में 365 दिन 6 घंटे का समय लगता है. इसलिए कैलेंडर को 365 दिन का कर दिया गया. इसके साथ ही जूलियस सीजर ने खगोलशास्त्री सोसिजेनेस को ये अतिरिक्त घंटे का समाधान करने को कहा. उन्होंने सुझाव दिया कि हर चार साल में एक दिन बढ़ा दिया जाए. और इस तरह से हर चार साल बाद 366 दिन का एक कैलेंडर ईयर बना.

आखिरकार ऐसे निकला तोड़
कैलेंडर पर लगातार काम होता रहा. 15वीं सदी में रोमन चर्च के पोप ग्रेगोरी 13वें ने फिर नए सिरे से कैलेंडर पर काम शुरू किया. उन्होंने अपनी गणना में पाया कि पृथ्वी को सूर्य का चक्कर पूरा करने में 365 दिन 6 घंटे का वक्त नहीं लगता है. बल्कि पृथ्वी 365 दिन, 5 घंटे, 46 मिनट और 48 सेकंड में सूर्य का एक चक्कर पूरा करती है. उन्होंने पाया कि इस वजह से हर 400 साल में समय तीन दिन पीछे हो रहा था. ऐसे में 16वीं सदी आते-आते समय 10 दिन पीछे हो चुका था.

पोप ग्रेगोरी ने इन 10 दिन को एडजस्ट करने के लिए 1582 के कैलेंडर में 10 दिन बढ़ा दिए. उस कैलेंडर में 5 अक्टूबर के बाद सीधे 15 अक्टूबर की तारीख थी. इसे ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर नाम दिया गया.

2020, 2024… इन्हीं सालों में क्यों 29 फरवरी
एक साल में 5 घंटे, 46 मिनट और 48 सेकंड को छोड़ देना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है. लेकिन अगर ऐसा ही सालों तक चलता रहे तो चीजें बहुत गड़बड़ हो सकती हैं. यही कारण है कि हर चार साल में कैलेंडर में एक दिन बढ़ाना जरूरी है. हर चार साल में इन बचे हुए घंटों को एडजस्ट किया गया. पोप ग्रेगोरी 13वें ने पाया था कि हर 400 साल में समय तीन दिन कम हो रहा था. इसलिए उन्होंने सुझाया कि उन सालों में एक दिन बढ़ाया जाए, जो 400 से पूरी तरह डिवाइड हो जाए. इसके बाद हर चार साल में एक दिन बढ़ा दिया जाए. ग्रेगोरी ने साल 1600 के कैलेंडर में एक दिन बढ़ाया था. इसके बाद 1700, 1800 और 1900 के कैलेंडर में फरवरी में 29 तारीख नहीं थी. लेकिन 2000 के कैलेंडर में 29 तारीख थी. अब 2100 का जो कैलेंडर होगा, उसमें भी 29 फरवरी नहीं होगी. लेकिन साल 2400 के कैलेंडर में 29 फरवरी होगी.

इसे ऐसे समझिए कि 1896 के कैलेंडर में तो 29 फरवरी थी. लेकिन 1900 के कैलेंडर में 29 फरवरी की तारीख नहीं थी. इसके बाद सीधे 1904 में 29 फरवरी हुई. इसी तरह से 2096 के कैलेंडर में तो 29 फरवरी होगी, लेकिन 2100 के कैलेंडर में ये तारीख नहीं होगी. 2096 के बाद 2104 के कैलेंडर में फरवरी 29 महीने की होगी.

लीप डे न हो तो क्या होगा?
अगर हर चार साल में लीप डे न जोड़ा जाए तो कई सारी दिक्कतें हो सकतीं हैं. लीप डे इसलिए जरूरी है, क्योंकि ये कैलेंडर ईयर को सोलर ईयर से मैच कर देता है. कैलेंडर ईयर के हिसाब से एक साल 365 दिन में पूरा हो जाता है, जबकि सोलर ईयर के हिसाब से एक साल 365 दिन और लगभग 6 घंटे में पूरा होता है. नासा के मुताबिक, एक साल में 6 घंटे का वक्त बहुत मायने नहीं रखता, लेकिन सालों तक इसे नजरअंदाज बड़ी समस्या खड़ी कर सकता है. इससे मौसम का सिस्टम तक बदल सकता है. उदाहरण के लिए, किसी जगह पर जुलाई गर्मी का महीना है. अगर लीप ईयर नहीं होता तो कुछ सैकड़ों सालों में जुलाई सर्दी का महीना हो जाएगा.

तो क्या अब सब ठीक है?
पोप ग्रेगोरी 13वें ने जो कैलेंडर तैयार किया था और गणना की थी, ये उसी का नतीजा है कि सदियों बाद भी मौसम का सिस्टम जस का तस बना हुआ है. यानी, अगर 500 साल पहले जुलाई में गर्मी पड़ती थी, तो आज भी गर्मी जुलाई में ही पड़ती है. हालांकि, नेशनल जियोग्राफिक की रिपोर्ट बताती है कि ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर भी पूरी तरह से सटीक नहीं है. इस कैलेंडर में भी हर साल 30 सेकंड का बदलाव होता है. लेकिन इससे कुछ खास फर्क नहीं पड़ता. क्योंकि हर साल अगर 30 सेकंड का अंतर आ भी रहा है तो भी अगले 33सौ साल में एक दिन से ज्यादा का फर्क नहीं आएगा.

वर्धा – मानेच्या दोन मणक्यांमधील क्षतिग्रस्त डिस्क अर्थात गादी काढून संपूर्ण कृत्रिम डिस्कचे प्रत्यारोपण करण्याची शस्त्रक्रिया सावंगी मेघे येथील आचार्य विनोबा भावे ग्रामीण रुग्णालयातील अस्थिरोग विभागात करण्यात आली. या शस्त्रक्रियेद्वारे मणक्यांच्या तज्ज्ञ शल्यचिकित्सकांनी पस्तीस वर्षीय तरुणाची जीवघेण्या मानदुखीसह चालताना होणाऱ्या त्रासातूनही मुक्तता केली.

चंद्रपूर जिल्ह्यातील बल्लारपूर येथील निवासी उमेश जयस्वाल (३५) याला मानेच्या वरील व खालील भागात असह्य वेदना होण्यासोबतच हातापायाला मुंग्या येण्याचा व मान बधिर होण्याचा त्रास गत वर्षभरापासून सुरू होता. मागील चार महिन्यांपासून त्याला चालताना हा त्रास अधिक प्रकर्षाने जाणवायला लागला. या त्रासाचा परिणाम दैनंदिन जीवनशैलीवर आणि कामावर होत असल्याने रुग्णाची अस्वस्थता वाढत गेली. इतरत्र समाधानकारक उपचार न झाल्याने अखेर रुग्णाने सावंगी मेघे रुग्णालयाकडे धाव घेतली. सावंगी रुग्णालयातील अस्थिरोग विभागात रुग्णाच्या मानेची एमआरआय तपासणी करण्यात आली.

यात मानेची लवचिकता जोपासणाऱ्या गादीवर मणक्यांचा अतिरिक्त दाब आल्यामुळे हालचालीत अडथळा निर्माण झाल्याचे आढळून आले. कालांतराने याचा परिणाम पाठीच्या कण्यावर होऊन अपंगत्व येण्याची शक्यता निर्माण झाली होती. रुग्णाची शारीरिक स्थिती लक्षात घेऊन स्पाईन सर्जन डॉ. सोहेल खान यांनी शस्त्रक्रियेद्वारे क्षतिग्रस्त डिस्क काढून त्याऐवजी कृत्रिम डिस्कचे प्रत्यारोपण करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. डॉ. खान यांच्यासह शल्यचिकित्सक डॉ. कश्यप कनानी व डॉ. विपुल अग्रवाल यांनी ही अवघड शस्त्रक्रिया यशस्वीरीत्या पूर्णत्वाला नेली. या शस्त्रक्रियेत त्यांना बधिरीकरण तज्ज्ञ डॉ. विवेक चकोले, डॉ. संज्योत निनावे, डॉ. ऐश्वर्या नायक तायडे आणि वैद्यकीय चमूचे महत्त्वपूर्ण सहकार्य लाभले.

कृत्रिम डिस्क रोपणाची पहिली शस्त्रकिया – डॉ. खान कृत्रिम सांधे प्रत्यारोपणाच्या शस्त्रक्रिया सावंगी मेघे रुग्णालयात गेल्या अनेक वर्षांपासून सातत्याने होत आहेत. मात्र मणक्यांमध्ये कृत्रिम डिस्क प्रत्यारोपित करण्याची शस्त्रक्रिया या रुग्णालयात प्रथमच करण्यात आल्याचे डॉ. सोहेल खान यांनी सांगितले. डिस्क बदलाच्या या प्रत्यारोपणामुळे मणक्यांची लवचिकता आणि गतिशीलता कायम राहणार असून अंतर्गत झीज होण्याचा धोकाही कमी झाला आहे आणि रुग्ण चालण्याफिरण्यास सक्षम होऊन त्याचे दैनंदिन जीवन सर्वसामान्यांसारखे पूर्ववत झाले असल्याचेही डॉ. खान यांनी सांगितले.

Former Intel India country head Avtar Saini was killed after a speeding cab hit him while he was cycling in Navi Mumbai township of Maharashtra, police said on Thursday.

The accident took place at around 5.50 am on Wednesday, when Saini (68) was riding a bicycle along with fellow cyclists on the Palm Beach Road in Nerul area, an official said.

The speeding cab hit Saini’s bicycle from behind and the driver then tried to escape from the spot, with the bicycle’s frame wedged under the front wheels of the cab, he said. Saini received injuries and the fellow cyclists rushed him to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, the official said.

Saini, a resident of suburban Chembur, was credited with working on the Intel 386 and 486 microprocessors. He also went on to lead the design of the company’s Pentium processor.

The police have registered an FIR against the cab driver under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by doing an act rashly or negligently so as to endanger human life) and 304-A (causing death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide), and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The accused has not yet been arrested, an official from the NRI police station said.

West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday claimed that Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sheikh Shahjahan is in the “safe custody of Mamata Police” as part of a ‘deal’.

Sheikh Shahjahan was arrested by West Bengal police on Thursday morning in connection with allegations of ‘sexual assault and land grab’. The LoP, in a post on X, alleged that Shahjahan will be extended five-star facilities while in jail.

“The Scoundrel of Sandeshkhali, Seikh Shahjahan, is in the safe custody of Mamata Police since 12 am last night. He was taken away from the Bermajurr-II Gram Panchayat area, after he managed to negotiate a deal with the Mamata Police, through influential mediators, that he would be taken care of properly while in police and judicial custody,” Suvendu Adhikari said in his post.

“He will be extended 5-star facilities during his time behind bars and will have access to a mobile phone, through which he will be able to lead the Tolamool Party virtually,” he added.

“Even a bed in the Woodburn Ward will be kept ready and vacant for him if he chooses to spend some time there,” Adhikari said.

Shahjahan’s arrest comes three days after the Calcutta High Court Chief Justice ordered to add Sheikh Shahjahan to the Sandeshkhali case.

Nagpur: The Tehsil Police have ramped up the investigation into the sensational accident involving a Mercedes car that resulted in the death of two youths on Ram Jhula on Saturday midnight.

On Wednesday, the police obtained a bill from the CP Club which shed light on the events resulting in the accident. As per the bill details, ‘240 ml’ liquor was purchased by the two women, said police. Ritika, also known as Ritu Dinesh Malu (39), a resident of Deshpande Layout, and Madhuri Shishir Sarada (37), residing in Wardhaman Nagar, were in the Mercedes car when the accident occurred. The duo was en route to Wardhaman Nagar in a car (MH-49/AS6111) on Saturday midnight, with Ritu at the wheel. The victims, Mohd Hussain Ghulam Mustafa (34) from Nalsaheb Chowk, Mominpura, and Mohd Atif Mohd Zia (32) from Awasthi Chowk, Jafar Nagar, tragically lost their lives when their moped (MH-37/Q2948) was hit by the speeding Mercedes.

Following the incident, Ritu informed her relatives, who rushed to the scene. Ritu herself was admitted to a private hospital in Nandanvan. Later, the police located and arrested her after registering a case under Sections 279, 338, and 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Despite the severity of the charges, Ritu was released on bail, as Section 304(A) is a bailable offense.

In an attempt to determine the speed of the Mercedes, the police scrutinised CCTV footage from the Ram Jhula area on Tuesday. Dinesh Malu, a member of the CP Club and Ritu’s husband, became a focal point of the investigation. On Wednesday at 4.30 pm, a police team visited the CP Club and seized a copy of the bill issued to Malu. The bill detailed the purchase of ‘240 ml’ liquor and other food items.

A senior police official mentioned that Ritu’s blood sample was collected. Confirmation of alcohol influence would only be established after receiving the forensic laboratory report, which was still pending as of Wednesday late evening. Once the report confirms alcohol influence, Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code will be added to the case, said a police official.

Nagpur: In the murder case of photographer Vinay, also known as Bablu Poonekar, in Raj Nagar, Nagpur, sensational information has emerged revealing that the shooter, Hemant Shukla, had stolen jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from the house of Sakshi Grover’s in-laws in Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Grover is already in police custody, while Shukla is on the run. A team of Nagpur police is camping in Raipur and another in Haryana to trace Shukla.

Reports said that Sakshi and Hemant first crossed paths at a gym in Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Relatives of Sakshi became aware of their connection which led to Hemant’s dismissal from the gym where he worked as an instructor. Later, Hemant relocated to Raipur but maintained regular contact with Sakshi. Around a year-and-a-half ago, when Sakshi’s relatives were away for work, she apprised Hemant about the situation. Together, they hatched a plan to commit theft at her in-laws’ residence.

Following Hemant’s instructions, Sakshi went for a stroll in the night and left the house door ajar. With no one in the house, Hemant entered and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh kept in a cupboard. Upon discovering the theft, relatives lodged a complaint about the stolen jewellery valued at Rs 20 lakh. Hemant was arrested after an investigation, but he resumed contact with Sakshi after being released on bail.

The duo had been involved in a blackmailing racket targeting Poonekar for the past two years. It is noteworthy that last Saturday, Hemant brazenly entered Poonekar’s house in broad daylight, fatally shooting him twice. Sakshi, originally from Madhya Pradesh, had lost her husband three years ago, and had moved to her parents’ residence in Nagpur. The police are actively searching for Hemant Shukla.
